Claire Taylor

Principal Consultant

Biography

After reading Maths at Oxford, Claire spent four years with Procter & Gamble working in IT Systems Management.  She left P&G to focus on her international cricket career and her desire to become the best female batsman in the world, joining SUMS Consulting in 2006.

Claire retired from international cricketer in 2011 after representing England over 150 times, winning two World Cups and picking up international and national accolades.  She remains engaged with the development of the women’s game and is Chair of the MCC Women's sub-committee.  The strategies for achieving excellence have resonance throughout her work and whilst she is not competing at that high level with the bat anymore, she is enjoying the challenge of playing in classical music concerts with two local orchestras.

With SUMS Consulting Claire initially specialised in collaborative benchmarking studies.  Unsurprisingly given her sporting expertise, Claire has developed and leads our Sport Strategy and operations area.  Integrated strategic planning more widely has become a specialism for Claire; supporting planning at an institution, Faculty or Department level and linking this to achievable business plans.

Claire enjoys engaging with new areas and the learning opportunities that her role offers: she is currently studying part-time for an MA in Applied Management with Henley Business School. This experience as a consumer of HE has offered new insights.
