Start Time:
10:00
End Time:
15:00
Host:
Andrea Buttle
Location:
Woburn House, Tavistock Square, Kings Cross, London,WC1H 9HQ
Description:

SUMS continues to work with members on academic workload planning.  Up till now these assignments have focused on process and model and advised developing the model in simple in-house software as a first stage.

A recent assignment showed that increasing student number volatility in conjunction with tightening budgets is making workload allocation a more difficult task and current in-house software is not developing fast enough to meet this challenge.

Commercial software for workload planning is now available and universities should be thinking about moving functionality out of in-house software into commercial packages that are in the cloud.

This seminar provided an opportunity for Members to:

  • Learn Lessons from a pioneer of academic workload modelling in UWE
  • Understand the differences between the two market leaders in this field namely Simitive and Strenton software who will showcase their products along with case study examples
  • Network with other universities as to good practice in developing this area.
