End Time:

Host:
Susannah Randall
Location:
Woburn House, Tavistock Square, Kings Cross, London,WC1H 9HQ
Description:

This Special Interest Group brings together a select group of university Marketing and Communications Directors to discuss digital developments and changes to marketing leadership roles in the sector.

In the morning, attendees will:

  • Discuss the findings of a SUMS university benchmarking study on digital teams and resources, involving 14 UK and 2 US universities
  • Hear how digital teams at the University of Bath and Imperial College London are spreading digital innovation and skills, and encouraging wider ownership and co-ordination of digital priorities
  • Hear about new services and support for SUMS Members, including Uprated’s collaboration with London Metropolitan University to capture user insights
  • Discuss their own challenges in this area, and put any questions to peers facing similar issues.

The afternoon session will focus on marketing leadership roles. We will explore the evolving status of marketing in university leadership structures:

  • In ‘learning to play with the senior team’, Tricia King, V-P Global Engagement at CASE, will reflect on those forging new leadership roles in the sector, as well as drawing from her own experience of this transition
  • Luke Blair, V-P (Communications) at Imperial College London will reflect on his first year in this new role.

Attendance for SUMS Members is free of charge. Places are granted on a first come, first served basis. The group is kept deliberately small to allow for a richer exchange of ideas and challenges on the day.
